recyclage, etc...

I've tried to do so but moderators did not allow me.
One converging clue is that methods and approaches to address both are more or
less the same (not talking about RFID or other hardware stuff). I'm mainly
talking about conception, architectures and organization. It will need both
autonomy in decision making at subsidiary levels and intelligence to share and
exchange in many different contexts (semantic approaches VS syntaxic).

Are human bodies still control what happens ?
Considering the current crisis, I'm not sure...

That's the point : we put in place many different information systems; all
connected together, but shaped in a wrong way.
Methods of conception are still deterministic, process-based according to
approaches and concepts that have been raised during the industrial era.
We therefore created a wide Information complex system (to address the
"information era") with an inadequate basement.
See also : www.volle.com (in French).
Wrong tools for new challenges/stakes : The output is the current chaos.
As long as we will not change our approaches, we will experiment such
tremendous adjustments : what we are experiencing today is a reducing of the
gap between "reality and virtuality".
Entering in the "Information era" with no more similar accidents means
"changing" the way we organize, conceive, develop, etc.
Regarding previous experiences (and particularily "discrepancy between
complexity / goals"), I do agree with you but the point is "what methods to
use".
From that point of view, standards are definitely not the solution : One size
does not fits all and intelligent objects should be capable to be
auto-referenced since thay can auto-organize.
Best regards,
Philippe
PS : H2O was just here to illustrate...

Actually, this looks interesting, but may not be desirable. Do you really
want to put uncontrolled intelligence in systems and allow them to share many
things without human bodies controlling what happens ?

For your information, actually IIRC water is much less (and not more) than
H2+1/2 O2, it is (only) the residual product of the combustion of hydrogen. So
the energy is gone, and it is (arguably) the most important component.

Another view from my experience : back in 1996-1998, "autonomous" or
"intelligent" agents were hype. Using the precursor of SOA (Corba), software
entities would be able to migrate themselves instead of sending messages. But
all the initiatives (including standardisation in FIPA) failed because of the
discrepancy between the complexity and the goals.

Hi,
I read your insights with interest. I've started a little private project under
the heading Work 4.0: How will we work (in Western Europe) in, say 2012-2015,
when al the work in mass production and mass services have disappeared to other
countries? I am primarily looking to knowledge management issues and the web.
Can you comment on work in the age of the internet of things: what will the
working environment of the individual knowledge worker look like? What must
companies do to work together with these (teams of) individual knowledge
workers? How do these knowlegde workers work together?
