Dans certaines définitions de l’Internet des Objets, « il est parfois suggéré que l'objet deviendra un acteur autonome de l'Internet, c'est-à-dire capable de percevoir, analyser et agir par lui-même dans les contextes des processus dans lesquels il sera engagé. … Le couple "objet physique" / "Intelligence virtuelle associée", qu'elle soit embarquée, distribuée ou hébergée dans le Cloud, y est alors mentionné sous l’appellation "cyberobjet". TODAY
NEWTON: space is already organized, time is a linear dimension, common to
everything and objects which are populating space are studied with a prior
understanding of the unique organization of the universe.
In that scheme, a WMS (Warehouse Management System) problem is: how to organize space then how to populate it accordingly - then how to find things in it - then how to realign the virtual idea of the reality (information system) with reality (since it always diverges!).
TOMORROW
EINSTEIN/PLANCK: space isn’t organized a priori. It changes and becomes
organized with the auto-organization of the objects which are populating it and
time is a dimension that can change, depending on the objects, the organization
of objects, etc. But organization isn’t always the same!
In that scheme, the problem of a WMS becomes: how to model the dynamic organization of objects, considering their autonomous behavior and the interoperability between them? The problem of finding them is then different: when we need to find an object, we just ask the object itself...

EPCGlobal... Standardization is not THE solution (simply a part of it).

EPCGlobal set of standards are one of the best available resources one can use to address traceability issues in closed or semi-open loops.
However, I consider the current EPCGlobal vision and concepts as somehow "limited" in its willingness and capacity to address every kind of actors in any situation (too much standardization, too many deterministic views, etc.).
This is why my company is using different approaches to enhance / leverage existing solutions (artificial intelligence, decisional analysis, etc.).
What has been done on DS (Discovery Services) so far (BRIDGE project, IETF, etc.) is, to my point of view, not always adapted to the market (real life) and I really wonder whether EPCGlobal will succeed or not with such an issue.
Actully deterministic and probabilistic approaches (some of the experimented ones) are not suited to treat complexity...

It will be, for sure, a "complex" and non deterministic system made of
billions of autonomous and self-decisioned actors (entities) with their own
independent finalities.
Referring to "complex systems
theories", the question is : "for which global ending ?” - chaotic evolution or targeted direction
?....
In the meanwhile complexity is increasing : it
is time to switch to full systemic
approaches in the design of our Information systems !

Intrinsically, the Internet of Things will be « non deterministic », complex
and various although, so far, the ongoing standardization models (eg :
EPCGlobal) are still apprehending deterministic value chains or
processes.....
In such an environment, the use of Semantic approaches will, possibly, give a
“meaning” to every kind of message and will accordingly facilitate
communications whoever will be the actors, even though they have no prior
interchange agreement.
